Working with Runshaw College to provide fantastic opportunities & experience for apprentices

At Cutting Edge we are always looking for opportunities to learn from the next generation of talented workers and benefit from fresh ideas and perspectives. This is what inspired us to launch our very own Cutting Edge Academy in September; a training programme granting real working opportunities & experience for apprentices.

Managing Director, Sam Tinsley, was proud to launch the programme, saying:

“The Academy is a brilliant way for us to support the local community and the next generation of talent with paid working positions while they study, which will ultimately lead to real career opportunities. Working with apprentices massively benefits us as a business as well, giving us fresh perspectives, new skills and ideas to complement our industry experience.”

Working in conjunction with Runshaw College in Chorley, the academy has already begun training two bright and enthusiastic apprentices, Josh Appleton and Nick Brewis. Cutting Edge chose to work with Runshaw College because of their state of the art student facilities, excellent success rates and ‘outstanding’ OFSTED reports for the past 20 years.

Both recruits are working directly with the Workshop Manager, Phil Wilcock, in our engineering department, learning the skills required to become a fully trained and time-served Engineer. Alongside working full time, Josh and Nick still attend Runshaw College to undertake their academic learning and will complete a valuable Level 3 Engineering qualification over the next 4 years.

The academy is set to continue growing and providing more opportunities for apprentices with plans to begin training a new recruit in our New Product Development team very soon, and more opportunities to come in the future.
