Welcoming the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry

Last week we had the great honour of hosting a delegation of business leaders from some of the most innovative manufacturing and automation businesses in Japan. The group of over twenty delegates visited the UK in a two-day tour arranged by METI (Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry).

The visit to our head office and production centre was organised in collaboration with our world-leading partners in robotics, ABB. The METI delegation tour aimed to bring together manufacturers and leading system integrators in robotics and automation to share knowledge and develop new global partnerships.

The visit arrived on the back of the recent announcement that Cutting Edge have entered the Northern Powerhouse programme, demonstrating how businesses can pool their strengths and knowledge with international partnerships to lead innovation in the North of England. Our Managing Director at Cutting Edge, Sam Tinsley, reflected on the productive and highly successful visit:

“It was our great privilege and honour to have the opportunity to welcome the Japanese METI delegation on their visit to the UK and showcase the innovations that we have achieved at Cutting Edge over the last 25 years. We fully believe in the spirit of global collaboration and working in partnership to share expertise with other businesses and industries outside of our own. Robotics and automation are at the heart of our vision for the future of the food industry, and it is by working in partnership with global leaders like ABB and innovative programs like the Northern Powerhouse that we will deliver this vision together.”

Cutting Edge entered partnership with ABB robotics last year to add bespoke automation and exclusive robotics solutions to their portfolio for food processing and production plants. As a partner of ABB, the delegation expressly chose to visit Cutting Edge to discover how we are leading the way for automation and Industry 4.0 solutions in the UK and Ireland’s food industry.

As well as demonstrating some of our latest innovations in the food industry including the Guardian Safety Bandsaw and automation solutions, the delegates were inspired by our revolutionary knife sharpening service and even had the chance to see the results first-hand. The visit proved highly successful and we look forward to working closer together with our global partners, sharing knowledge across a wide range of expertise to pioneer innovation and world-leading service in the food industry.
